Hello ladies (and gentlemen if you're reading). HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EACH OF YOU!
So far this year has been launched into high gear with many people going about life on a natural high of renewed strength, hope and fresh opportunity.
That can be such a refreshing feeling. Nothing makes us thrive greater than the thoughts of doing better, being better and reaching for MORE!
As these euphoric experiences continue on in the months to come I'd like to inspire you a little more. Inspiration does not always come as a result of being rallied but also through reflection, inflection and careful planning as a result of it.
We've heard so many times before that each year is going to be a great year, but something deep within me jumped and continues to jump as I seriously feel some great, expansive and remarkable things awaiting us in this year. I believe that if you've been praying, waiting and working on achieving some very specific goals in your life 2011 is going to connect you with individuals and opportunities that will propel you farther than you even expected.
I took some time to reflect and inflect. I wanted to make sure that as a leader I was FIRST looking at myself. I have learned that leaders should focus on self-development and not self-fulfillment. I made several lists within my journal. I placed topics in columns such as:
- "How Did I Succeed in 2010?"
- "What Failed in 2010?"
- "What Wasted My Time?"
- "Who Wasted My Time?"
- "What Can I Do Better Personally in 2011?"
- "What Can I Do Better Professionally in 2011?"
- "What are My Main Goals and Objectives in 2011 and What Is Needed to Accomplish Them?"
My list went on a bit further but I think you get the point. This was a process that took me several days but as I finished it I felt more revived and clearer in my personal and professional intentions.
There is nothing more fulfilling in life than improving SELF.
So I encourage you to do the same. Let's make sure that as we move ahead in this pregnant year we are embracing our own potential as well as recognizing the gifts around us that others can contribute to our lives.
Some doors will be opened to you because it is undoubtedly TIME for them to open and others will stand in front of you waiting for YOU to open THEM.
Here is a scripture that I love so very much and reminds me daily of why I do what I do and to Whom I owe the greatness that is within me.
Psalm 90:17 "And let the beauty of the LORD our God be upon us: and establish thou the work of our hands upon us; yea, the work of our hands establish thou it."
